Shoring, Pipe Patching, and Plugging
Battle damage, collision and running aground could cause holes in the hull. The methods used to patch and plug such holes demonstrate the unsung talent of our U.S. Navy Sailors. Particularly during WWII, Sailors kept ships afloat, applying their skills under stress, using resourcefulness, ingenuity and the abilities to improvise with whatever was available. This enabled them to continue their missions and eventually return home. |
