DC EQUIPMENT MUSEUM Welding Equipment Installed Shielded Metal Arc Welder |
Prior and during WWII on major combatants installed welding stations were provided throughout the ship. These welding stations were supplied from a central 440 volt power source and had very limited ajustments at the station itself. The advantage was a large number of welding stations could be located near critcal equipment and areas. This reduced the requirement to move welding equipment into the area or rig long cables through numerous water and fire tight boundaries. |
