Fire Hose (Various) |
|
The Navy standard hose for dewatering and firefighting since the 1940s has been the 2 ½-inch by 50-foot cotton and nylon hose line. It is a required outfitting for topside fire stations. Besides being connected to fire plugs, the fire hose can be connected to the 2 ½-inch outlet on P-500 and P-250 pumps. Using a wye-gate, the hose run can be extended with two 1 ½-inch hose lines, with an all purpose nozzle (APN) attached at the end. An APN with a 4- or 10-foot applicator inserted is attached for specific functions and requirements in firefighting. The 2 ½-inch by 50-foot cotton and nylon hose line also is standard for supplying educators and the discharge hose for electrical submersible pumps. The 4 inch hose is the standard dischage hose for the educator. |
