Washers, round rings made of leather, were inserted in all female, interior thread fittings of firefighting nozzles, hose fittings, tri-gates, wye-gates, foot valves, eductors, submersible pumps and increaser/reducer couplings. They were also necessary in suction hose and foot valve connections to create an airtight seal in the fitting connections in pumping or eductor dewatering operations. They improved the fitting connections, preventing air and water leakage, by improving the efficiency of the water stream delivered at the nozzle outlet on the fire hose. |
