Deck Drains
| To augment water removal and drainage was a series of deck drains, piping and scupper valves. The drains and valves were classified Zebra. With permission from DC Central, they could be opened to allow water to drain out of a compartment. Some deck drains would drain overboard, while others drained through the piping and into collection tanks in later ship classes. This system was good for draining the last couple of inches of water out of a compartment as well. |
