The pry bar was used as a prying and leverage tool. It was
used to create leverage on an electric motor mount, to help
realign a large 10- or 12-inch valve in the fire main, or to
remove debris and other fallen objects after an explosion or
torpedo hit. It was also used as a brace. By securing “C”
clamps to the edge of a hatch and across the pry bar on each end
to hold it in place, the pry bar was used to secure lines to or
hook a block and tackle or chain falls for hauling and lowering
above a trunk or ladder well. |
