Fire Axe |
The fire axe was used as a rescue and access tool. It was used to break up deep-seated class “A” fire materials during a fire or the overhaul phase of firefighting. The pick end was used to penetrate ventilation ducting to allow for the insertion of a 4-foot applicator fog nozzle to extinguish a vent fire. The blade was used to cut away lagging and insulation, to cut through expanded metal cages, or as a steel wedge. |
