USS WILLAMETTE (AO 180) and USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61), Collision, October 1993 USS WILLAMETTE (AO 180) and USS JASON (AR 8), Collision, 10 February 1986 On February 10, 1986, the Cimarron class fleet oiler, USS Willamette (AO 180) collided with the Vulcan class repair ship USS Jason (AR 8) while conducting formation steaming exercises southwest off the coast of Pearl Harbor, HI. The oiler’s starboard bow was smashed from the rail to below the waterline. The repair ship sustained a vertical rupture on the port side from the deck to the waterline and required towing back to port. There was one personnel casualty and eight injuries reported. |
