USS NASSAU (LHA 4), Collision, January 1996 |
n January 1996, the Tarawa class amphibious assault ship, USS Nassau (LHA 4) broke away from the pier at Naval Station Norfolk, VA due to 73 knot wind gusts. The submarine collided with the pier and a civilian tugboat. There were no personnel casualties or injuries reported. |
